How can I improve my English speaking by myself if I have no one to practice with?

Oct 28, 2026
Short answer

A six-day solo rotation that keeps one measured recording and one unmeasured practice session apart, so the numbers stay clean and the practice stays varied.

Run a six-day rotation and keep the recording day separate from the practice days. Day one is the measured two-minute take, always the same task shape. Days two to four are unmeasured retrieval practice: take one message and say it three ways, then say it again in ninety seconds with the three boxes empty of notes. Day five is playback only, with no counting, because listening to yourself without scoring is a different skill from measuring yourself. Day six is a rest day, and the rotation repeats.

Keep one unmeasured session deliberately sloppy. If every session is scored, the week you need most, the one where you push into harder topics, looks like a failure on paper and you stop doing it.

When you do get a listener, spend their time on the thing you cannot hear: play two recordings from different weeks in random order and ask which sounded clearer, then ask what they did not catch. A preference and a missed word are both more useful than a rating out of ten.
