How do I write a self-assessment in English for my review?
Write six short lines of evidence instead of a paragraph about yourself, and give every line a number.
Write six short lines of evidence instead of a paragraph about yourself, and give every line a number.
Each line has the same shape: what you did, the result, and your part in it. I rebuilt the onboarding checklist; setup tickets fell from 40 to 25 a month; I owned the rewrite. Use the past simple for finished work and the present perfect only for something still running. Put your strongest line first and your weakest last, where it can be discussed without setting the tone of the hour.
On most HR forms the box is smaller than the six lines you drafted, so write in a plain text file first and count characters before you paste; a 400-character box holds about three of the six lines. Keep that file after the meeting, because the same lines become the starting point at the half-year point and, later, the raw material for interview answers about your results. If the form also asks for a rating, write the sentence before you choose the number: the wording usually tells you which rating is honest.
