How long do I speak in IELTS Speaking Part 2?
The official format allows one minute to prepare and up to two minutes to speak. The examiner stops you when speaking time is up and may ask one or two questions on the same topic. Part 2 as a whole lasts 3–4 minutes, including preparation. Follow the examiner's instructions rather than a blog's sentence-count rule.

You can rehearse the official preparation and speaking times, then listen to what you recorded. Check whether you addressed the actual task, developed connected ideas, and made your meaning understandable. Counting pauses, words, or sentences alone cannot establish an IELTS band score.
